Joe B. Swart joined the firm in 2004. His practice is concentrated on defending hospitals, physicians, physician’s assistants, nurses and nurse practitioners. Mr. Swart specializes in every aspect of complex medical malpractice litigation, including obstetrical, gynecological oncology, brain injury and surgical cases, often successfully obtaining an early dismissal or facilitating a defendant’s verdict at trial.
He also represents plaintiffs in auto injury and employment injury cases.
Prior to entering private legal practice, Mr. Swart was a prosecutor in the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. Mr. Swart spearheaded long-term criminal investigations into narcotic and firearm trafficking cartels, including the Latin Kings and other gangs. His investigations received attention from national media, including Court TV, The New York Times and HBO.
Mr. Swart was also a recurring commentator on Court TV (TruTV). He provided expert legal analysis of high profile criminal cases, including the trial of NBA standout Jayson Williams, Scott Peterson and pop star Michael Jackson.
